GUKIRA

Behind Every Service There’s a Story

Each program at GUKIRA is driven by a shared purpose  to restore mobility, dignity, and hope, one person at a time.

Sarah’s Story

Sarah, 72, from Uganda, lost one of her legs several years ago after an untreated infection. She usually rents a wheelchair from her local hospital, but when it’s unavailable, even simple daily tasks become difficult. Through GUKIRA’s support, Sarah received a pair of walking sticks that help her stay mobile and independent. While moving around uneven ground remains challenging, the assistance has restored her confidence.

Mobility Aids

We provide wheelchairs, crutches, and walking sticks to enhance accessibility.

Community outreach

We extend rehabilitation support to underserved communities through outreach and partnerships.

Samson’s Story

At 70 years old, Samson Kapalaga lives alone in his modest home. Once strong and active, he lost his sight after an untreated eye infection led to the loss of his second eye. Alongside his visual impairment, Samson continues to face mental health challenges that make daily life even more difficult. GUKIRA’s goal is to ensure Samson receives regular medical care and therapy to support both his physical and emotional wellbeing.

Kadogo’s Story

Meet Kadogo, one of GUKIRA’s beneficiaries from Kakajjo II, Old Kampala. He is blind and lost his lower limbs due to diabetes and cancer that affected his toes. Kadogo also lives with Through the kindness of a well-wisher in the UK, HIV/AIDS and requires ongoing support for daily living. GUKIRA provided him with food, basic necessities, and a wheelchair to help improve his mobility.

This is why GUKIRA exists
